Willow Garth Country Park boasts a series of well-established fishing lakes adjacent to the natural conservation area of the old Bentley pit in Doncaster.
We provide modern off-grid infrastructure and amenities to meet all your needs.
Spanning a 6-acre site, our three lakes are home to a variety of species, offering numerous opportunities to diversify your angling techniques and guarantee a catch. Willow Garth truly caters to all anglers, featuring a Carp lake, Predator lake, and a match/pleasure lake. We warmly welcome families, experienced anglers, and beginners alike. Additionally, we have a small tackle and bait shop as well as a self-service cafe.
Our Waters
Carp Lake

The Carp Lake at Willow Garth Fishery features two islands, the largest of which is located at the bottom end of the lake. Several gravel spots can be found, but many anglers prefer using pop-ups to ensure proper presentation, even if their rig settles in the weed beds.
Predator Lake

The Predator Lake is the smallest on the complex, with depths ranging from 4 to 6 feet. There is one small island for anglers to target, but open water can also yield catches. Additionally, a bank of reeds to the right of the lake’s centre is a well-known hotspot where fish tend to gather.
Match Lake

The Match Lake is the first lake you will see when you arrive at the complex, and it is also the largest lake at the fishery. While there are no islands on this lake, a group of lilies emerges in the centre during the summer, providing most swims with a feature to fish to.

The Art Of Patience
Witnessing a youngster’s shaky hand while attempting to tie a hook length onto his line is humbling and rewarding once achieved. Having an attentive adult, offering skills development, takes youngsters into a new realm of balancing and redirecting any unspent emotions. Patience is key, and being in nature is a great leveller for the central nervous system of anyone learning new skills.
